AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL BROADBAND NETWORK COMMUNICATIONS HUB

228 EP900 hybrid ventilators were installed in  8 communications control centers located throughout Australia to support the roll out of the Australian Government’s National Broadband Network.

Each communications control center contains large electronic data modules to enable broadband operation. The equipment generates heat and its reliability is sensitive to environmental conditions. Many air conditioners have been installed to ensure the critical operating temperatures are not exceeded. The heat generated by the compressors during warmer months is removed by the ecoPOWERs to ensure the A/C systems can operate at best efficiency.

The hybrid ventilators can also provide heat extraction of the modules without the need for operating the air conditioning during the cooler months using, at first free gravity and wind power  and then, if required, mechanical operation.

ecoPOWER 900 was selected as the device to remove compressor heat because:
1. The product’s air flow of 5885 CFM at just 273 watts is unsurpassed.
2. The EP900 provided the option of variable speed control and was capable of being controlled by the Building Management Software.
4. ecoPOWER 900 offered the option of free gravity and wind operation during the cooler months of the year.
